In addition, Academy North has reviewed how attendance will be factored into student grades.  We have decided upon a standard policy which all teachers will adopt.  In each of their classes, student grades will be impacted by their rate of attendance, their participation in their classes, and their performance on tests, quizzes, and assignments.

Teachers will average student grades in the following categories:

Students with low attendance rates will not pass their classes and earn academic credit.

In order to receive a passing grade (D- or better), students have to have achieved at least a 60% on their assignments and attended at least 60% of the school days.  If both of those conditions are met, the teacher will average the points students have earned in three categories:

Attendance: 30% of the quarter grade.
Academic Participation: 20% of the quarter grade
Assignments: 50% of the quarter grade

The chart below illustrates how these factors will influence student grades.
